The ferry crossing is around two hours which allows for some beautiful views of the islands of Gigha, Jura, and Islay as well as the area surrounding West Loch Tarbert. There is plenty of time to relax in the bar with an Islay whisky, grab some dinner from the onboard restaurant or simply soak up the sea air before you arrive. On arrival into Port Ellen or Port Askaig, it is a short drive to Bowmore to check in to The Bowmore House or Island Bear for your four-night stay. Day 2 Your first full day on Islay will se you explore the distilleries of the southern coast of Islay, all of which are famed for their heavily peated flavours. This day will include a Warehouse Tasting at Lagavulin, a curated tasting at Ardbeg, and a tour and exclusive tasting at Laphroaig. Day 3 The third day of the tour would visit the western part of Islay. The day would begin with a tour and tasting at the Bowmore distillery, followed by a visit Bruichladdich distillery, for a warehouse tasting. We will then travel to the independent Kilchoman distillery, which will be your lunch stop for the day. After your lunch you will be able to take a tour of the distillery, to see the full process of whisky production, including the rare opportunity to visit a working malting floor. Day 4 The fourth day will take you to the north of Islay, to visit three more of the islands distilleries. The day will begin with a visit to Ardnahoe distillery for a tour at Islay's newest distillery, before a tour at Caol Ila, the largest of Islay's distilleries. After a lunch at the Ballygrant Inn, you will visit the Bunnahabhain distillery for a tasting of a range of selected Bunnahabhain expressions. Day 5 After a final hearty breakfast, you’ll catch the morning ferry back to Kennacraig. Back on the mainland, you head to the loch-side town of Inveraray. This is the seat of the Clan Campbell, and your lunch stop for the day. After lunch, your journey hugs the shores of Loch Fyne and Loch Long before climbing up to the Rest and Be Thankful pass for sweeping views. Then on to Loch Lomond. With time to admire the lovely views , this is the last stop on your tour before crossing the River Clyde and into Scotland’s largest city of Glasgow.
