Description
Depart Edinburgh and journey to the picturesque town of Dunkeld in Perth and Kinross, situated on the River Tay. Explore the beautiful cathedral which is part church, part ruin, and visit the tomb of the notoriously cruel 'Wolf of Badenoch'. Continue on to the village of Blair Atholl in Perthshire, situated in the midst of the Grampian Mountains. See the villages most famous feature, Blair Castle, one of Scotland's stately homes and the last castle to be besieged in 1746 during the last Jacobite rising. Spend 2 hours in Blair Atholl, enough time to explore the castle and beautiful gardens, or simply wander the town and enjoy lunch. After leaving Blair Atholl, pause for photos at Queen's View, a famous vantage point in Pitlochry with one of the most iconic panoramic views in Scotland, enjoyed by Queen Isabella and Queen Victoria. Afterward, continue past Loch Tay to the Falls of Dochart; a beautiful waterfall that flows through the Highland town of Killin. Spend time here to take in the atmospheric scenery before a short photo stop at Loch Lubnaig and onwards to the town of Callander. Callander lies immediately south of the Highland boundary fault and is historically a meeting point between the Highlands and Lowlands. Take time to explore the Gateway to the Highlands and enjoy some refreshments before you make our journey home to Edinburgh, where the Central Highlands tour ends.Includes
