Saddle up and sample the rich diversity of Edinburgh’s landscapes on a guided 5-hour bike tour to the Forth Road Bridge, offering a surprising variety of scenery so close to the city. Using picturesque cycle paths and forest trails, you will cycle an approximate 25 miles (42 kilometers), starting from the heart of Edinburgh’s port of Leith, where there are plenty of cafés for a pre or post-ride snack. Follow a beautiful route northwest, following the shore line of the Firth of Forth towards the iconic Forth Road and Forth Railway bridges, and the picturesque town of South Queensferry. Pass Lauriston Castle, a beautifully restored Edwardian stately home. Then, cycle along the seaside promenade of Crammond to the Dalmeny Estate, pedaling through wooded parkland and right past the Gothic pile of Dalmeny House. Cycling across the Forth Road Bridge will be a fantastic experience. You will cross the bridge (time and weather permittting) in traffic-free safety, hundreds of feet above the Firth of Forth. Enjoy one of the best views of Edinburgh - and a superb view of the Forth Rail Bridge - as you look back along the waterline. Stop at South Queensferry for a well-deserved snack (not included), then head back to town.
