Description
Begin by heading through the heart of historic Leith, Edinburgh's port, with many bars and cafes. Then ride along the coast to the historic fishing harbor of Newhaven or head to the city centre via cycle paths through the Edinburgh. Next you’ll ride south out of the city, cycling past Edinburgh’s extinct volcano, Arthur’s Seat, and off road to Craigmillar castle where Mary Queen of Scots fled in 1566. From there you’ll continue on a mix of quiet roads and dedicated cycle paths to Newhailes House. This grand Palladian country house was originally built in the 17th century and was owned by the influential Dalrymple family, featuring prominently during the Scottish Enlightenment. Cruise back to the coast at Musselburgh, past Fisherrow harbor to stop for something to eat at a suitable venue (depending on the weather) and then cycle along the coast to the promenade at Portobello beach. If you prefer an alternative route, we will plan a tour to suit you—for example to the famous Rosslyn Chapel.Includes
