Description
We depart from our meeting point at 190 High Street, in the heart of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, leaving the city behind for a fascinating journey through Scottish history with a Spanish-speaking guide. Our first stop is Rosslyn Chapel, one of Scotland’s most famous historical sites. Built in the mid-15th century on a small hill, it became a key center of the Catholic Church. Today, it is widely known for its associations with Freemasonry, the Knights Templar, and the Holy Grail. Popularized by Dan Brown’s novel The Da Vinci Code, Rosslyn Chapel is full of secrets waiting to be discovered. Please note that entrance is not included in the tour price. Next, we travel through the lush green Lowlands to reach Jedburgh, a small town near the Anglo-Scottish border with royal connections. Here, you’ll have time to stretch your legs and prepare for the journey deeper into history. Our journey continues to Vindolanda, one of the Roman forts along Hadrian’s Wall. At this archaeological site, you can observe excavations and learn how the Romans built the fort and lived their daily lives. Vindolanda is one of the best-preserved Roman forts along Hadrian’s Wall, offering an immersive experience into ancient Roman Britain. A short drive brings us to Hadrian’s Wall, a 117.5 km Roman construction from coast to coast, an incredible feat of engineering. Beyond its defensive function, the wall divided Britain and contained Viking and Celtic incursions from the north, showcasing the strategic genius of Roman military architecture. On the way back to Edinburgh, we stop at Melrose Abbey, one of the finest examples of medieval ecclesiastical architecture in the British Isles. Its impressive ruins offer a glimpse into the spiritual and architectural grandeur of the Middle Ages. Finally, we return to Edinburgh, arriving at Hanover Street in New Town, having explored the borderlands where landscapes, architecture, and ways of life shifted dramatically from one region to another. This excursion provides a unique combination of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery.Includes
