Description
Leave behind Glasgow's urban bustle as we journey toward Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The flat expanse of the Lowlands gradually transforms into rugged peaks, forested glens, and the shimmering waters of Loch Lomond. Framed by majestic mountains and dotted with over 30 islands, this iconic loch has inspired songs and poems for centuries. A stop here reveals why it remains one of Scotland's most celebrated landscapes. Continuing north, we traverse the vast, open landscapes of Rannoch Moor before arriving at Glencoe, one of Scotland's most iconic natural landmarks. Known for its dramatic, rugged slopes, this beautiful area has been featured in films and has many stories to tell. Your driver-guide may share the tragic tale of the MacDonald clan that has lingered in this valley for over 300 years. Next, we enter the glacial valley known as the Great Glen and pass beneath the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britain's tallest mountain. After this visual feast of towering peaks, you arrive in Fort Augustus, situated on the banks of Loch Ness. Embark on a 50-minute circular cruise, and perhaps catch a glimpse of Nessie. Your journey south is filled with classic Highland scenery. As you travel past the Cairngorms National Park, you'll enjoy a few breaks and various photo stops along the way. Gradually, the dramatic mountains soften and become cloaked in lush forest as you approach Pitlochry. Our final stop is in Pitlochry, a quintessential Scottish town nestled among the hills. Take a stroll along the High Street and imagine the Victorian visitors who once explored this charming place, seeking the tranquillity of the Highlands. As we continue south, the scenery transforms from the forested hills and mountains of Highland Perthshire to the softer, rolling fields of the Lowlands, and we pass through Stirling on our way back to Glasgow. *The Loch Ness boat cruise is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice.Includes
