Melville Golf Centre
Edinburgh
The Melville Golf Centre is comprised of 22 bays, of which 12 are Powertee bays including one left-handed bay. The great thing about Powertees is that you are not continually bending over to tee up your ball as it is automatically done for you. The bays are also flood-lit for evening practice.
The range itself has markers at 75/100/150/175/200/250/300 yards. At the shorter markers there are nets and an interesting feature is the set of rugby posts at 140 yards, which has a shield in the middle of the cross bar. At the far end of the bays, there is also a bunker to practice your bunker shots.
Next to the bays there is a fully stocked shop. The Melville Golf Centre Shop is designed for everyone at all ages and stages, Ladies, Gents and Juniors. Whether you are looking for equipment, clothing, rain-wear, shoes , accessories or gift vouchers, they have it all! It does not end there, for Ladies their speciality Ladies Golf Shop is for 'on and off the course'. For Juniors, irons, woods and bags are custom fitted to match the size of every child, both girls and boys. The Melville Golf Centre Shop is branded supplier for Green Lamb, Glenmuir, Valerie Herman, Sunderland of Scotland, Footjoy, PGA Golf, MD Golf, and Masters Golf to name but a few.
The star of the show is the fully qualified PGA, class AA, professional and Golf Machine Instructor - Ryan Scott. He also has a Bachelor qualification in Golfing Machine Golf Stroke Engineering and is working towards his Masters.
There are four holes to practice your shot game with an incredibly difficult 9 hole putting surface, which will test the best putters.
Down from here is the small club house, which again supplies various golf-wear and across the road, you will find the 9-hole golf course.
The course itself is always well manicured and has extremely slick greens in the summer months. The par for the course is 32 and has 4 par threes, therefore, it is suitable for all stages of golf.
After your day at Melville Golf Centre, The Laird and Dog Inn is a short drive away, which is a welcoming traditional bar/restaurant serving delicious food, also offering comfortable en-suite rooms if you decide to stay for a good nights sleep.
