Children's Scottish Culture Workshop in Edinburgh Meadows
This 3-hour workshop in Edinburgh Meadows suits children aged 3 to 12 and their accompanying parents interested in Scottish traditions.
Description
Meet in the Meadows, the large park south of Edinburgh's Old Town, before walking together to the activity venue. Children will engage in traditional Scottish songs and crafts, creating a kilt-inspired costume to wear during the day and take home. They will learn about Scottish customs, prepare a traditional Scottish dessert, and participate in playful competitions based on Highland Games sports.
The workshop also includes instruction in ceilidh dancing, a common Scottish school activity. Throughout the event, children hear about local wildlife, plants, and the daily life of Scottish children.
