At Vindolanda, one of the best-preserved Roman forts along Hadrian’s Wall, visitors can see ongoing excavations and learn about Roman military life.
The tour then approaches Hadrian’s Wall, a 117.5 km Roman defensive wall marking ancient Britain’s northern frontier against Viking and Celtic incursions.
