Description
Depart Edinburgh, crossing the Queensferry Crossing with views of the Forth Rail Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travel north through Fife from Lowlands farmland to the forested hills and mountains near the Highland Fault line in Perthshire.
Arrive in Dunkeld on the River Tay, known as “Big Tree Country.” Explore the architecturally significant cathedral or stroll the village streets. Visit the Hermitage for a woodland walk amid Douglas firs and ancient oaks leading to Black Linn Falls.
Continue to Pitlochry, a Victorian resort town, with time for lunch and a walk past traditional pubs and cafes. Drive through Highland Perthshire to Queen’s View overlooking Loch Tummel, with views towards Schiehallion mountain on clear days.
Visit Aberfeldy and tour Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery to learn whisky production and enjoy a tasting dram. Return to Edinburgh through Highland Perthshire’s forests.
