Itinerary Overview
Day 1
Travel north through Fife to visit Lindores Abbey, a modern distillery located on the site of Scotland’s first recorded distillery from 1494. Learn about its historic legacy, innovation, and sustainable whisky production.
Continue to Cairngorms National Park, stopping in Braemar for lunch and exploration. Afterwards, visit the Whisky Castle, a whisky emporium with over 120 years of history and more than 600 malts on offer. Sample three Speyside whiskies to taste the region’s character. The day ends at Grantown-on-Spey, your base for two nights.
Day 2
Explore Speyside, Scotland’s renowned whisky region, starting at Glenlivet Distillery. Discover its history as the first legal distillery in the Glen of Livet and sample three drams, including exclusive editions. After lunch in Aberlour, visit the Speyside Cooperage to see traditional and modern barrel-making techniques. The final stop is Cardhu Distillery, known for its role in blends like Johnnie Walker and the story of Helen Cumming. Return to Grantown-on-Spey for the night.
Day 3
Begin with a whisky and chocolate tasting at Dalwhinnie Distillery, set in the Cairngorm National Park’s mountain scenery. Then travel south to Pitlochry for free time to explore and have lunch. Stop for a walk in the Hermitage forest among towering Douglas firs and a waterfall. Visit the village of Dunkeld before returning to Edinburgh via the Firth of Forth, admiring the South Queensferry bridges.
