Description
The tour departs Edinburgh heading west, passing Stirling Castle before stopping in the conservation village of Luss on Loch Lomond's shores. Take time to walk around the village and view Ben Lomond across the loch.
Travel continues through the Arrochar Alps, with a stop at the 'Rest and Be Thankful' viewpoint. The next stop is Inveraray on Loch Fyne, where you have free time for lunch and optional visits to Inveraray Castle (open April to October, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays) or the Old Jail.
Heading north, there is a photo stop at Kilchurn Castle, a dramatic ruin on Loch Awe. The tour then proceeds through Trossachs National Park with a stop at Loch Lubnaig to admire the forested hills surrounding the calm waters.
The final main stop is Doune Castle, built over 600 years ago and known for appearances in Monty Python and The Holy Grail, The Outlaw King, and the Outlander series. After the visit, the tour returns to Edinburgh, arriving early evening.
