Itinerary
Day 1 – Into the Highlands
Depart from Edinburgh, Glasgow, or another Central Belt location and travel through Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, stopping in the village of Luss. Cross Rannoch Moor and enter Glencoe to learn about the 1692 massacre. Continue through Fort William, visit Glenfinnan Viaduct and monument to Bonnie Prince Charlie, then travel through the Great Glen to Inverness for an overnight stay. Accommodation is not included.
Day 2 – Isle of Skye Exploration
Leave Inverness and travel west, stopping at Loch Cluanie for photos and then visiting Eilean Donan Castle. Cross the Skye Bridge to explore Portree, the main harbour town. Discover the Trotternish Peninsula, including the Old Man of Storr, Lealt Falls, Kilt Rock, and the Quiraing. Optionally stop in Portree for lunch and finish at Sligachan Bridge with views of the Cuillin Mountains before returning to Inverness.
Day 3 – Loch Ness, History and Highland Perthshire
Start at Loch Ness with an optional boat cruise to spot the legendary Nessie. Visit Culloden Battlefield, the site of the 1746 Jacobite Rising, then explore Clava Cairns, a Bronze Age burial site. Travel through Cairngorms National Park to Pitlochry for some free time, then visit Taste Perthshire to see Highland cows before returning to Edinburgh, Glasgow, or the Central Belt.
