Description
Set off from Edinburgh in the morning and travel east along the sweeping coastline of the Firth of Forth. Leave the city’s skyline behind as the landscape opens into rolling farmland and sparkling sea views.
Your first stop is the charming seaside town of North Berwick, a favorite coastal escape for locals and visitors alike. Stroll along the sandy beach with views out to the volcanic cone of Bass Rock, home to one of the world’s largest northern gannet colonies. Wander the colorful High Street, browse independent shops, or take a short walk to the harbor for classic seaside photos. On a clear day, the views across the water toward Fife are spectacular.
Continue south through the beautiful county of Northumberland, where the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, with wide skies, ancient castles perched on hills, and glimpses of the North Sea. By late morning, arrive at the magnificent Alnwick Castle, the true highlight for Harry Potter fans. This grand medieval fortress, still home to the Duke of Northumberland, is one of the largest inhabited castles in England — and instantly recognizable as Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets.
Walk through the very courtyard where Harry had his first flying lesson with Madam Hooch. Stand on the same cobbles where Harry, Ron, and Hermione learned to control their broomsticks. Fans can relive the magic with broomstick training sessions often held on the castle grounds, making it a truly immersive experience.
Beyond its wizarding fame, Alnwick Castle is rich in over 700 years of history, from medieval battles to appearances in films and television such as Downton Abbey. Explore the lavish State Rooms, climb the towers for sweeping countryside views, and wander the beautifully landscaped grounds. Nearby, the Alnwick Garden offers striking fountains and themed gardens for those who wish to extend their visit.
After a magical afternoon, begin the journey north back toward Scotland. As the light softens, stop in the historic harbor town of Dunbar. Birthplace of naturalist John Muir, Dunbar boasts dramatic cliffs and a rugged coastline shaped by centuries of wind and waves. Take a walk along the harbor, admire the ruins of Dunbar Castle clinging to the rocks, or simply enjoy the sea air and perhaps a coffee or ice cream before the final leg of the journey.

Children must be over 5 years old, you may be asked for ID for proof of age.
Buses don't have toilets on board, but we make frequent comfort breaks.
We do not offer allocated seating.
If you suffer from travel sickness, we advise bringing medication or supplements. The tour involves cross-country driving and a large portion of the trip is spent on the coach.
You are welcome to bring a small bag onboard the bus, along with a packed lunch, snacks or something to drink.
