Café Royal Oyster Bar
Edinburgh
A glorious example of Victorian and Baroque, little has changed since then. Entering the Café Royal is like taking a step back in time. Originally dating back to 1826, The Café Royal stood just across the road from the present building and was known for its dining room special - oysters. In 1863 The Royal moved to its new location in this stylish Parisian building, designed by local architect Robert Paterson. Entering The Café Royal is like taking a step back in time with its stained glass, murals, mirrors and wood panelings.
At the Circle Bar you sample a selection of Scottish cask ales, malt whiskies and why not try our home smoked delights, not forgetting the best oysters and mussels in town.
