DescriptionRise early and meet your guide in the Old Town of Edinburgh, where you’ll board either a minivan or coach and travel west to Glasgow. Once you arrive in the city, you will be taken to see Glasgow Cathedral, a medieval church that is especially notable as it’s the only cathedral on the Scottish mainland to have survived the Reformation. After yourCathedral visit, your guide will take you on an informative tour around the city. Hop back on the bus for the journey to Loch Lomond, one of the largest lakes in Scotland. After arrival, enjoy a walk around its picturesque banks, which inspired the famous song 'The Bonnie Banks o’ Loch Lomond.' Alternatively, choose to cruise around some of the lake's remote islands (at your own expense). The tour will then pause in nearby Aberfoyle, a charming village in the heart of Trossachs National Park, where you will be able to relax and refuel over lunch (own expense). After eating, jump back onto the bus and the tour will head further into the rugged Highlands. Admire spectacular scenery as you travel down Duke’s Pass and onto Loch Katrine, a glorious freshwater lake in the Stirling district. Go for a walk along the peaceful water’s edge. This enchanting area was home to Rob Roy MacGregor, the famous Highland outlaw and folk hero, and it was a source of inspiration for the acclaimed poet and author Sir Walter Scott. After a relaxing jaunt around the lake, head to Doune Castle, the formidable fortress where part of 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' was filmed. The entrance fee will be at your own expense, but once you’re inside, you will be able to explore its various chambers and find out more about its history. On the drive back to Edinburgh, the tour will pass by the William Wallace Monument and the site of the old Stirling Bridge, where William Wallace and his army defeated the English. You will be dropped back off where the tour began.
